Light That Heals. Results You Feel.

Class IV B Laser Therapy is one of the most powerful and effective tools available in modern physical therapy — and Healing Star PT is proud to offer it at both our Eatontown and Freehold, NJ locations.

Used by professional and Olympic sports teams across the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and FIFA, Class IV laser therapy has established itself as a gold-standard modality for pain management and accelerated tissue healing. It is FDA-cleared, non-invasive, and can be used safely as an effective complement — or in some cases, an alternative — to pharmaceutical pain management.

How It Works

Class IV laser therapy works through a process called photobiomodulation. The laser device delivers concentrated photons of light energy directly into the affected tissue. These photons are absorbed by the cells, triggering a cascade of healing responses at the cellular level:

  • Increased production of ATP (cellular energy), accelerating tissue repair
  • Improved local circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrients to injured tissue
  • Reduction of inflammation and swelling
  • Stimulation of the lymphatic system to clear cellular waste
  • Release of endorphins for natural pain relief

During treatment, patients typically experience a gentle, soothing warmth at the treatment site. This comfortable sensation marks the beginning of an 18–24 hour process of enhanced cellular activity and tissue healing.

What to Expect

Each laser therapy session lasts approximately 5–15 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated and the condition involved. Treatment is delivered directly to the skin — clothing over the area must be removed to allow full light penetration. Your therapist will select between contact and non-contact delivery methods based on your specific needs. The contact method allows the therapist to gently move the laser handpiece over the tissue for a laser massage effect, enhancing depth of penetration.

Most patients begin to notice meaningful improvement within 3–5 sessions. Research consistently shows that laser therapy combined with manual therapy and therapeutic exercise produces superior outcomes compared to any single modality alone.
