FAQs

Is physical therapy right for me?

Physical therapy can benefit a wide range of conditions — from acute injuries and post-surgical recovery to chronic pain, balance issues, and sports performance. If you’re dealing with pain, stiffness, weakness, or difficulty with daily activities, there’s a good chance PT can help. Call us for a free consultation and we’ll help you determine the best path forward.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. New Jersey is a direct-access state, which means you can start physical therapy without a physician’s referral. Simply call our office and we’ll get you scheduled. If your case involves workers’ compensation or a motor vehicle accident, additional documentation may be required — our team will walk you through it.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Call either of our locations and speak with one of our friendly patient service specialists. They’ll find the earliest appointment that fits your schedule, verify your insurance benefits, and give you an estimate of your coverage before your first visit. You can also submit an appointment request through our website.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card
  • Doctor’s prescription (if you have one)
  • Completed patient intake forms (available on our website under Patient Resources)
  • For MVA or workers’ comp cases: claim number, adjuster contact info, and any relevant documents

Arrive 15 minutes early to finish any remaining paperwork.

Will my insurance cover physical therapy?

In most cases, yes. Our team will contact your insurance company prior to your first visit to verify your benefits and give you a clear picture of what’s covered. We accept most major insurance plans. We also offer self-pay rates for patients without insurance — just ask when you call.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows your therapist to access the area being treated. For upper body conditions (shoulder, neck, elbow), wear a tank top or short sleeves. For lower body conditions (hip, knee, ankle), wear shorts. Comfortable, supportive sneakers are recommended for all appointments.

How long is each session?

Your initial evaluation is approximately 60 minutes — this is a thorough, one-on-one assessment with your physical therapist. Follow-up treatment sessions typically run 45–60 minutes depending on your treatment plan and needs.

How many sessions will I need?

Every patient is different. Your therapist will give you an estimated duration of care at your evaluation based on your diagnosis, severity, and goals. Most patients see meaningful progress within the first few sessions. We focus on getting you better as efficiently as possible — not keeping you in therapy longer than necessary.

What is direct access physical therapy?

In New Jersey, you have the right to see a physical therapist without first obtaining a physician referral. This means you can call us directly when you’re in pain and get started right away — no waiting for a doctor’s appointment first. This often means faster relief and better outcomes.

Do you treat workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident cases?

Yes. We regularly treat patients who were injured on the job or in car accidents. Our team is experienced in navigating the documentation and authorization process for workers’ comp and MVA cases. Please have your claim information available when you call.
